Welcome to Access Family Mediation

Relationship breakdown can be distressing, frightening and, challenging, and can inflict deep emotional pain which can remain with you for the rest of your life.

When your marriage, civil partnership or co-habitation comes to an end, or when you are unable to agree about arrangements for your children, at Access Mediation we are there to help you to agree on how to move forward.

    • Our aim is to help you to make your own decisions about your family and your finances without expensive disputes involving solicitors and the courts.

    • Our mediators do not take sides. We listen to what each of you say; we give you both a fair chance to speak and to be heard.

    • In mediations we try out your suggestions and offer ideas on what you can do to agree things for the future in a way that will work for both of you and for any children involved.

    • We offer you a safe, neutral and constructive environment where you and your partner can meet and, with our help, work towards an agreement calmly and in a non-adversarial way which is acceptable for both of you and for your children.

    • We apply principles of fairness and respect for all taking part, so mediations can be equally successful in both high- and low-conflict situations.

Our mediators are highly trained and have experience that goes well beyond the field of divorce. We have all experienced relationship breakdown and divorce. Some of us have experienced the benefits of mediation but some of us bear the scars of contested court battles because mediation was not available to us.

We are friendly and practical in our approach. We are realistic and have considerable experience of working in relationship-breakdown, separation and divorce, and understand many of the difficulties encountered. We will not tell you what to to do but will guide discussions constructively so that you and your partner can achieve the best way forward.

If you are interested in finding out more about family mediation, please contact us for a chat or an initial exploratory meeting. You can meet us either on your own or together with your partner. This meeting is entirely free and without any obligation to take mediation further.
